The First Winery of Auburn, Indiana!

Every so often a dream becomes a reality with just the right amount of hard work and dedication. The dream of opening Auburn’s first winery, Byler Lane, was initially expressed by part-owners, Rachel and Eldon Byler, while they were visiting, you guessed it, a winery in Michigan a few years ago!

Though some big ideas sadly don’t turn into anything, this dream did not follow suit! The Bylers partnered up with JR Byler and Larry & Cara Lane and begun the process of opening their winery! The Lanes had been experienced in making wine for numerous years, and together, the Bylers and Lanes planted their vineyard on Memorial Day of 2014 on the spacious property.

The risks they have taken and the success they have accomplished is certainly an indicator of the saying that the owners continue to be motivated by, which is “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough”!

The present building in which the winery resides was originally a Pole Barn, built in the early 2000’s, before they added on to create a more commodious area for visitors to enjoy! The charming wood accents throughout the inside of the winery is old barn siding, used from four historic barns all within a ten mile radius of the winery’s location.

This aesthetic, relaxing character allows for guests to feel comfortable and enjoy the tasting room and large outdoor patio. The winery will also continue to feature food trucks and live music throughout summer!

Byler Lane Winery officially opened its doors on May 27th, 2016 and welcomes visitors 6 days a week. Their hours, address, and upcoming events can be found on their Facebook page or website, www.bylerlanewinery.com!
