Auburn is proud and honored to be hosting a stop for the 2017 Hemmings Motor News Great Race on Wednesday, June 28. The Auburn Stop will welcome the race teams as they begin to arrive at 5:00 p.m. at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Plaza and will have dinner at the museum. Other activities will include a car show with live music held at Auburn Auctions Park.
The racers will begin in Jacksonville, Florida and end the race crossing the finish line in Traverse City, Michigan. This isn’t just a race to see who finishes with the fastest time. The race is scored similarly to golf where the lowest score wins. Racers are scored with secret checkpoints along with way and are penalized for each second either early or late. To qualify, cars built in 1972 or earlier are eligible to race. Most of the entries have been manufactured before World War II.
