The warm weather in DeKalb County, Indiana calls for spending time outdoors! The Auburn Arts Commission has 15 perfect reasons to get outside and enjoy the Downtown Auburn area! This year, the commission has brought “The Magic of Metal” to Auburn for a summer art project, and it will include fifteen sculptures of all different sizes, shapes, and colors for the public to enjoy all season!
The artists behind each of these incredible pieces of work are from various areas in the Midwest, including Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri! In fact, one sculptor is from Auburn! Read more about each artist’s work, educational background, and inspiration at the Auburn Arts Commission website, artsinauburn.org!
These “Magic of Metal” pieces will be on display until the middle of September, allowing ample time for residents, and visitors to the area, to observe and appreciate each sculpture! The exhibit is also approved as a Bicentennial Legacy Project, as it reflects the significance of metal in our county and state!
As of June 1st, each piece of metal artwork is in its “temporary home” throughout Downtown Auburn! The official commencement party, ‘A Magical Evening,’ took place on June 2nd, at the Auburn Atrium Marketplace, which allowed the public to not only enjoy local food & drinks, listen to music, and take a wagon tour of the sculptures, but also enabled them to interact with and meet the sculpture artists!
This “Magic of Metal” Outdoor Exhibit is the third so far, in a “Sculptures on the Square” series put on by the Auburn Arts Commission! Just like years prior, it will be another memorable and wonderful way for the community and DeKalb County visitors to enjoy the downtown area!
