Last Saturday, August 15th, Garrett took a step back in time, for the Summer 70’s Music Festival! The weather was nice and it was a great day with lots of fun activites, music and food!
The Summer 70’s Music Festival is not an annual event, per se, as last year is was focused around the 60’s. It is also anticipated that next year’s Garrett music festival will be in celebration of the 80’s era! However, it seems as though a music festival of some sort is becoming a tradition in Garrett, and it will fall between the Garrett Heritage Days in July and the Caboose Festival in October!
While at this year’s 70’s event at Feick Park, I saw multiple food vendors, including Timmy’s BBQ, which is an award winning BBQ on a national level! It was also named “People’s choice Grand Champion” at the 15th Annual Ribfest in Fort Wayne! I must say, it is now Award-Winning in my book too!
Another food merchant, “Bud’s All-Time Favorites,” was very tasty as well, and offered a different variety of foods, like hot dogs and fries. Not only were food vendors present, but other items were for sale, like jewerly and paintings!
One of the highlights of the festival was the live band. The “Juke Joint Jive” performed within the baseball diamond, at home plate! They sounded great, and played some fun 70’s music hits!
There were also activities like a Jell-O dish contest, “The Hustle” dance-off, games, and best costume competition!
