ScottieDTV’s Kavalcade of Kool

In DeKalb County, we love cars. This is why I was excited to head out to the Auctions America Auction Park for the Kavalcade of Kool last Saturday, June 13th. Not only was this car show a fun event with great people and music, but it was also put on to raise funds for local charities, one of them being Shop with a Cop.

This show is the third that has been presented by ScottieDTV and the Auburn Shifters Car Club in Auburn, Indiana. However, it was previously called, “ScottieDTV Traveling Charity Roadshow.” ScottieD, a car enthusiast, has over 70,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, and he chose his favorite vehicles from the show to be featured on it! This year they were a 2015 Scat Pack Challenger brought by Glenbrook Dodge and a 1966 Impala Supersport 427. Check them out!

Although the Kavalcade of Kool is mainly a show for all kinds of vehicles, it was also full of other activities. There was a swap meet and car corral, an autocross track set up by the SCAA, and jet engine demonstrations by a few of the Auburn Shifters members.

As I was browsing the cars, a bright red Fastback caught my eye. The owner, Ernie, who is also the owner of Ernie’s Bodyshop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, said he rebuilt this 1949 Ford Fastback in 1993. He recalled, “It took 6 months to rebuild, and that was doing it part time!”

Ernie, who is from Kentucky, wore his “University of Kentucky” hat proudly as he showed me the other car that he brought to the show. This one was a 1977 SS Chevelle that he did the body and paint work on.

Though the forecast for Saturday was calling for rain, it ended up being a nice summer day at the Kavalcade of Kool show!
