What’s been going on in DeKalb County, IN?

The Home-town Tourist Suitcase is ready to be DUSTED OFF and get back to traveling!

First, you may ask what has been going on over the last several months?

In June Strawberries in the Park was a hit!   Strawberries in the Park EventStrawberries in the ParkLori from The Olive Twist and Jeremiah from Jeremiah's Brewed Awakenings

In June the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Patriotic Pops Concert was at The DeKalb Outdoor Theater.  The Theater offers free concerts and had a successful 6th season with a variety of performances.

Speaking of Cars – in July The Early Ford V-8 Foundation & Museum Celebrated it’s 5th year Anniversary with a Cruise in.

July the Downtown Auburn Car Show, Kiwanis Club Donuts, plus Girls Night Out Shopping Event –

The Downtown Auburn Summer Art Exhibit 2014 was Pedaling Art- 20 Bicycles located around downtown Auburn.  The bikes were interactive – Many visitors took a spin and enjoyed the art exhibit. Children participated in the exhibit this year with painting Tricycles which were on display in area business windows.   The bikes and tricycles were auctioned off in September and raised over $14,000 towards this Downtown Auburn Business Association Fundraiser.  Read more about the event: here.

What else has been going on in DeKalb County?

Farmers Market  –  May – October – Wednesdays and Saturdays 7a-1pm in downtown Auburn.

In August Garrett’s Summer 60’s Fest was a blast!

Also, in August a wonderful dinner event on the Spencerville Bridge was enjoyed. The Spencerville Bridge is the last remaining covered bridge in DeKalb County.

 

All year long – every other month it’s Girls Night Out in downtown, Auburn. You can even enjoy a taxi ride – in not your average Taxi! Over 20 shops stay open late and have special goodies and offers!!!
