Let the journey begin! The artist in me, and my compass directed me to the Garrett Museum of Art. I had always heard about the museum and wanted to someday check it out.
I learned from the museum’s director, Teresa Wiant Stafford that the Garrett Museum of Art has been open since 2008.
I discovered the building is very unique! As I followed the open stairway upstairs I was surprised of the view! While upstairs, the glimpse of exposed brick and other unique features really brought out the characteristics of the building, once known as a bank.
What about the art?
I learned there are typically 6 exhibits a year, with much of the artwork for sale. Exhibited during my visit was “Expressions in Quilting & Fiber Art”. I find quilt and fiber art fascinating as I think of every stitch of thread coming together to form the piece just as tiny brush strokes in paintings.
I was informed of the next exhibit of pottery, so I returned to the museum a second time, with the Traveling Suitcase, of course! Who knew you could do Holiday Shopping at the Garrett Museum of Art!
