Traveling Suitcase of the Home-Town Tourist

Megan Satkowiak

My name is Megan Satkowiak.  I joined DeKalb County Visitor’s Bureau in September this year.  I have lived in DeKalb for most of my life, but with my new position I realized I have a lot more to learn about the area!  Necessity creates opportunity so I was provoked to start exploring. Not just looking at brochures and information about different places tourists can visit….  Not exploring just as a resident, but as a tourist… yes, I must explore with the eyes of a tourist! I must take the blinders off that many people have in their own community as they travel to work, or out and about, most of the time in a hurry.  The blinders are off, now I must have a suitcase for my travels.  Okay, I’m ready, let the road-trip begin! Join me and the Traveling Suitcase as we show what you can experience when you travel to DeKalb County! With all the hidden gems, unique features and attractions you’re going to want to pack up your suitcase!Image

About Visit DeKalb County

Welcome to the official blog of the DeKalb County Visitors Bureau. Nestled in the North East Corner of Indiana are ten communities that all share a common bond. And that bond is DeKalb County. Our job at the DeKalb County Visitors Bureau is to showcase all of the experiences the county has to offer and one of the many ways we do that is by blogging. Each of our blogs tells a different story of DeKalb County and we hope that by sharing these stories and events it will encourage people from all over the world to visit the place we call home.
